This is a restaurant that specializes in authentic Thai cuisine and craft beer. There are several Thai restaurants in the Hanbara area, but this is one of the truly outstanding ones that you should definitely check out.
I went for lunch alone.

Kaoyam
This is a Thai dish where vegetables and herbs such as lemongrass, kumihikan leaves, and mung beans are mixed together to make the rice. At the Thai restaurant "CHOMPOO" in Shibuya, I was served Kaoyam with rice colored blue by adding butterfly pea. However, this version is simply fragrant jasmine rice.
The seasoning used is "Nambudo," a fish sauce made by fermenting fish from the southern region of Japan. It's quite authentic. The unique aroma isn't particularly annoying. You can pour plenty of the sauce over the dish and mix it thoroughly before eating.
A deliciousness that can make you addicted. Surprisingly, it's quite refreshing. Compared to southern local dishes, this Thai dish is not too spicy. It can be eaten as a salad, and its appearance is truly impressive.
Som Tam Thai
This is a standard Bangkok-style soupmuam. Soupmuam is a staple dish in Thai cuisine, and it's said that when several Thai women gather together, they organize a soupmuam party. The green papaya used to make the soupmuam is well mashed, allowing the flavors to penetrate deeply. The combination of sourness and sweetness is balanced nicely, with a moderate spiciness. I decided to request a spicy version, but it was adjusted to be more palatable by default. There's no typical shredded cabbage presentation; instead, it's arranged in a salad-like manner. This makes it seem like a simple dish that can be enjoyed easily.
Nam Tok Mu
This is not a dish from the southern region; rather, it is one of the local dishes of Isan in northeastern Thailand. It is considered a representative dish of Isan, alongside Gaian, and it goes very well with Cao Niao. However, on this day, I ordered Cao Niao instead of Gaian, as it was Cao Yam. I chose this spicy side dish as my order.
In terms of spice, this dish feels more like a blend of herbs rather than just spices. The generous amount of coquito serves as a perfect accent to the rich and juicy pork. If you enjoy spicy dishes, this is definitely something you should try at least once. It pairs perfectly with rice, but it’s also an excellent choice as a side dish for beer.
The drink is a bit stylish, called Taimryam Soda. It's not alcohol, but the refreshing lime flavor pairs perfectly with Thai cuisine.
Great satisfaction, a perfect meal.
I enjoyed eating all of the food.
“LaLa Chai thaifood & Craft Beer”は、2020年2月にオープンした、クラフトビールを重視するタイ料理のレストランです。店主は中山仁志氏です。
Mr. Nakayama worked as a staff member at the British pub "HUB" for about three years. After that, he traveled around the world as a backpacker, mainly in Asia. During this period, it seems that he often visited Thailand as well.
After returning to Japan, she worked in restaurants such as izakaya. Later, she joined the "Beard Taproom." She spent about 7 years honing her skills at yakitori restaurants and pizza shops before retiring and starting her own business. The authentic Thai cuisine and craft beer at her restaurant are based on her real-life experiences in Thailand.
There are 6 types of beer available, all of which are domestic craft beers. The selection changes every time the shop is visited. Craft beers can also be purchased by volume. Of course, popular Thai brands like Chai and Shinghae are also available. The menu includes Thai-style savers, high-proof beers, Thai rice whiskies like "MonSham," and Thai whisky.
And the cuisine at 'Gaian' is indeed a specialty. Although it has a slightly less spicy taste compared to the local dishes, it still strives to recreate the authentic local flavors as closely as possible.
The restaurant offers a rich selection of drinks, with dishes and craft beer made locally as the main highlights. It's really appealing.
The exterior of the store is made of glass, making it seem like a beauty salon or a stylish café. The interior is also simple and has a modern atmosphere. The store uses posters and decorations to convey a sense of local charm. It’s not just a typical street stall; it’s a stylish space that makes people want to return again and again.
Of course, we also offer takeout services.
Personally, I think this place is perfect for girls' gatherings or casual dates with adults. It's also a good idea for women who enjoy ethnic cuisine to bring their boyfriends for tea-drinking dates.
The atmosphere here is really nice, just that much to say.
Of course, it's no problem for single men to enjoy Saku-ikan lunches, or for groups consisting of colleagues and friends to use the restaurant.
If you're looking for a great Thai restaurant in Hashigaya, this is definitely a must-visit place.
I highly recommend it.
