Edo District Lunch Rando Story No. 211
This was a cashless campaign event held in Edo District. It ended at the end of October.
Near Kiba Station, there’s a yakitori restaurant hidden beneath the elevated road of the capital expressway. It seems that there’s also a branch of this restaurant in Kikukawa.
Firstly, the interior is quite dimly lit. It seems like it could serve as a cozy retreat at night. However, during our visit, there were quite a few customers, and the sense of clutter was quite noticeable.
Such a slight sense of discomfort is more than compensated by the excellent service provided by the staff (who must be extremely busy). He’s probably quite attractive. At least, he’s attractive to men like me.
It's a pleasure to note that lunch includes free extra rice. However, if you're at a yakiniku restaurant, you should definitely choose Yakiniku Dofu. As for Cheese Chicken Cuts, it might be possible to have rice with them... but only with Corn Cream Croquettes.
So, here's a regular order of Yakitori Dofu. The price is 700 yen. Make sure to request a minimum-sized serving.
The preparation time is just over 15 minutes. In exchange, I can smell strongly the aroma of grilled food from the kitchen...
The details include a main dish of dosa, green onions, and beef, along with salad, cold tofu, fresh vegetables, and miso soup.
It seems that this restaurant also uses beef as a main ingredient for its vegetables. Although the number of portions, size, and variety are relatively limited due to the price, the quality of the meat itself and the cooking process are satisfactory. The vegetables are fragrant and delicious. Especially noteworthy is the tender texture of the liver meat.
A slightly sweet, smooth sauce. However, it's not so sweet that it's overwhelming. It's also a relief that the rice part doesn't become too bland and watery. (The soup base for "Nikudon" is also quite good.)
And the rice used is Tōkira Prefecture's Koshihikari. Indeed, it has a quality that can be described as superior to that of ordinary izakaya lunches. Anyway, the cooking method results in a great taste.
Also, it was a genuine version with seven-spice-flavored ingredients, which is very pleasing. I poured a generous amount of this mixture into the dashi pot to enjoy the aroma.
Salad. A simple seasoning with sesame oil and salt, mostly?
Cold tofu. Even in bite-sized portions, it comes with proper seasonings (chives, ginger).
お新香。市販のキュウリ漬け。極小量です。
Miso soup. Not chicken broth, but miso soup. Contains chicory and wakame. Slightly mild in taste. The katsuobushi broth is very effective. I like it even though it's not chicken broth. Still, I enjoy it.
Above all, it offers an outstanding cost-effectiveness—in fact, a mere one yen is required to use it (with a PayPay money bonus of 210 yen scheduled for later). Even the initial fee of 700 yen makes it a worthwhile option.
I repeatedly asked for more drinks from the men at the restaurant, and I couldn't help but feel like I was being looked at with white eyes.
