This is a cozy bistrot-like restaurant located in the alleys of Minpōwa. Although I don’t have many opportunities to drink natural wines, I am attracted by the dishes cooked over a charcoal fire. I usually make reservations for dinner during the day.
The small but lively interior of the restaurant was bustling. I sat down at a counter, and it seemed to be run by a young couple. The restaurant opened just last November 2024. As soon as I sat down, I was informed that it would take nearly an hour for the charcoal-grilled dishes of fish and meat. I understood that the prices were quite high, but I had high hopes because they seemed confident in their offerings. I ordered a Lamp Cow¥4800. The menu featured delicious dishes, and while the prices were steep, I believed they had genuine confidence in their products.
At first, since my throat was also dry, I ordered the fresh produce from Heartland. The side dish contained several types of olives. Although I usually don’t eat much olives, this time they were absolutely delicious! It was a great starter.
I ordered a recommended salad with fresh mushrooms and apples. The dressing was a combination of white and orange. This natural wine is different from the classic wines I usually drink. It’s white, yet it has a rich flavor; it resembles oranges, but also has the complexity of rosé wines. Both wines exude a strong grape flavor and deep taste, making them highly quality products. They perfectly complemented the dishes, creating a delightful dining experience.
Even before the main dish was served, I ordered one more item: the chicken liver mousse and the Gorgonzola-brushed beef that were highly praised by the person sitting next to me. Again, the balance of flavors was excellent, and the wine continued to be enjoyed. Here, I ordered a rosé and a white wine, and the combination between them was perfect and enjoyable.
And the lamp beef arrived! Beneath the beef were onions and shiitake mushrooms, absorbing the juices from the meat. The cooking was flawless and impressive. We served red wines from Loire (Gamay and Pinot) and Piedmont (Barbera), with the latter being preferred for the beef. In short, the culinary quality was outstanding. Even though the price was a bit high, it was definitely worth it. I felt absolutely satisfied!
In addition, the friendliness of the couple was outstanding. Their service was also very attentive. The husband not only prepared the food but also provided clear and easy-to-understand explanations about the wines. It has become a restaurant that I will definitely return to!
Finally, you two escorted me until the door of the restaurant. I really thought this was a great place to eat. It’s highly recommended!
