Fonda de la Madrugada
A true authentic restaurant without Japanese staff!
As of January 31, 2018, food review rating: 3.58
After working in Tokyo, we decided to have a meal together as a way to say "thank you" for the hard work.
Sunday night in the Kami-machi area was as quiet and secluded as if it were a lie. It was extremely desolate.
Moreover, the number of restaurants where one can drink is also limited.
In such a situation, I searched on Yumello and came across this Mexican restaurant!
Within a radius of 500 meters, it has topped the ranking of Japanese taverns (laughs).
A pub?
Operating until 10:26 PM (9:00 PM on Fridays), it's quite rare to find a restaurant that stays open so late.
Of course, with such high ratings, there shouldn’t be any failures.
Just like usual, it’s a traditional Japanese restaurant with a bar-like atmosphere. It can break the monotony of such places, so it’s like killing two birds with one stone.
It has been a famous restaurant for four and a half decades. Although I was aware of its existence, this is the first time I have visited it, so I'm really excited.
Located north of Harajuku, along Meiji Street, right between the intersections of Chidamagae Valley Elementary School and Kamiinuma First Avenue.
It is located in the basement of a building called Villa Bianca.
The surrounding area is dark, but this small section is lit up with a bright glow.
Descending the orange-colored, graffiti-covered staircase, one finds a place brimming with a 300% sense of exotic charm!
In addition, there are no Japanese employees in the restaurant.
Everyone here is from Mexico or similar Latin countries.
Further up to B2, as we make another round trip, that place is truly a dark, pleasure-driven world (laughs).
What's going on here? This dangerous atmosphere... (laugh)
It looks like a gang eating food.
As we observed the table seats where live music and applause filled the air, the eight of us were led into a private room.
Even though it's called a private room, it's actually just a bar area with a counter. There's a large table that can accommodate about 8 people.
Anyway, it's dark.
Therefore, taking photos was quite difficult.
If it's a No Flash version, the image will be blurry immediately.
And the restroom is also terrible (shock).
I almost couldn’t get out of there… (Laughter)
This place is also a typical foreign restaurant.
It's an illusion that I can still consider myself to be in Japan (;'∀')
First, let's toast with beer!
Please order items like Corona, Sol, and Tekate one by one.
Moreover, the drinks are very expensive!
Beers are priced between 900 yen.
TequilaやRumなどのアルコール飲料の価格は、最低でも1,000円前後です。
Ultimately, the most reasonable option is to choose bottle wine. If there are many people attending, that would be a good choice.
After that, just one glass of wine.
In South America, a variety of wines were stocked, available starting at around 3,000 yen each.
As for food items, since my Mexican experience is limited, I have left them to the woman who manages the musicians.
That seems like the most unlikely failure to occur, right? (Laugh)
Oshin: Permission to enter.Tortilla Chips with Salsa Sauce
This salsa sauce contains a lot of fresh vegetables, giving it a flavor that is not overpowering.
It was completely refreshed, and it looked quite good.
A first impression that's excellent, a "good start" indeed!!
This seems promising.
After that, one dish after another appears in a rapid succession!
I don’t really understand what’s going on, so I just stuff it down into my stomach without thinking too much about it.
The dish name is appropriate, so please forgive me (^^;
Harpeño Regentes
Cocktail appears!
Inside is cheese!
What was wrapped in that was something like green chili peppers, known as "harapeño".
Additionally, jerky of jalapeño is also available!
If we ate together, it was like heaven for me, who is a big fan of spicy food.
A clash between the richness of cheese and its spiciness.
Excellent. (Laugh)
Salad
It was filled with a dressing that resembled a Caesar dressing.
Additionally, there are lots of slices of cheese!
A classic avocado, and delicious bell peppers!
A quality of exceptional standard.
The sour taste is also a great feature of this restaurant.
エンチラーダ
Using a cheese fomulaire to cook melted cheese.
As you can see, the cheese is rolled onto the cornmeal dough like a crepe, and then it is rolled into a roll, just like a spring roll.
Posjo con Moree Silela
On top of the grilled chicken was, to be exact, a generous amount of chocolate sauce.
Tentatively tasting it...
It's a cocoa sauce that isn't sweet at all. To put it simply, it resembles a demiglace with a dull flavor.
Um, it certainly wasn't something that really inspired or moved me at all.
Additionally, chicken gurka, nacho, avocado sauce-based chicken gurka, and so on.
Stuck on the table in such quantities that it’s hard to eat, what is this thing (explosion)
During the show, three Mexican waiters performed two songs each.
This is truly a high-level restaurant!
Absolutely outstanding harmony (laughs)
It was an atmosphere where it seemed like we had to give a tip, but considering it was included in the service fee, we simply skipped it.
It’s a place with an excellent atmosphere, so it’s also suitable for dates!
Weiwai’s group party is also great!
Discussion is not possible.
The authentic flavor of the dish is indeed enjoyable, but if the number of people dining is small, the unit price tends to increase significantly. This puts us in a situation where we cannot be optimistic regarding the cost-per-order metric.
Since there is also an additional service fee, it is definitely not a cheap restaurant.
But, it's definitely worth experiencing.
