A Japanese-style restaurant located in a quiet residential neighborhood. Focusing on seafood dishes, this is a very pleasant place to dine.
We sat down at the counter. The menu prices were set at 3500 yen and 4500 yen, which was a reasonable offering. This time, I ordered individual items that I liked.
Since it's the "kitchen" managed by Chef Nakodo-san, it's said to be called "Nakodo Kitchen = Near-Kyoto." The name of the restaurant is quite stylish, isn't it?
According to the review, there is no special sauce available. So, I first ordered the rosemary seaweed dish for 600 yen. It's quite rare to find such a dish. The delicate taste of the wasaibee gives a pleasant刺激 to the appetite.
The grilled dishes are the last chances of this season: 800 yen for cold salmon, and ? yen for fried shrimp. It seems that the cold salmon comes from Wakayama Prefecture during this time. As a bonus, they added a little catfish to the dish. The presentation on each plate is quite elegant.
Additionally, the Aya Ue tempura costs 1200 yen. There are more dishes for the season. They are presented just like the young trout swimming in clear streams. Each piece is served individually. Delicious.
Ongi to Yuba Wrapped Steamed 750 yen. This too is a luxurious taste.
Tanguchi Chicken Teriyaki: 760 yen. It's a pleasure to have not only seafood but also chicken and beef options. There are various ways to cook Tanguchi Chicken, such as salt-baked, rostered, or with ponzu sauce. I chose the teriyaki version. This is really good.
And the main dish is, Noduguro Kusumi, 2200 yen. Kusumi (shrimp) is basically a type of dish cooked with alcohol. It involves steaming a whole, large-sized Noduguro using a large steamer. This is truly delicious. Moreover, at this size, the price of 2200 yen is quite reasonable.
And finally, for the dish called “Taru Meishu” or “Pot-roasted Tuna” (1.5 cups), it costs 1550 yen. Additionally, there’s a charge of 300 yen for the dashi broth used in making this dish. It’s very good to use this dashi broth to prepare tea saké and eat it as part of the meal. I was able to take home a portion of the leftover food, so I brought back about half of it.
Above all, I ate quite a lot. My stomach is now completely full.
The two of us drank three glasses of beer, a 1,000-yen bottle of Japanese sake from Danbo’s “Kojima”, as well as hot water-based versions of plum wine and grapefruit cocktails. The grapefruit was carefully squeezed to extract its juice.
The total cost for two people was 14,250 yen. Each person paid a little over 7,000 yen. Since we ate quite a lot this time, the usual price per person would be around 5,000 yen. It’s a very good place to eat—cheap, delicious, and with a great atmosphere.
