2025.10【Revisit】From the north entrance of JR Nishi-Hachioji Station, it’s a 3-minute walk towards the Kōsho Street direction. This was a lunch appointment on a weekday. As before, I ordered a set meal of sashimi for 1,500 yen. The menu included a mixed selection of sashimis, three small dishes, a mini salad with cabbage, seasonings, rice, and miso soup.
Today's sashimi includes yellowtail sashimi, tuna, octopus, salmon, and red eel. The sliced fish is thick, and the texture of the red eel is absolutely outstanding. The eel miso sauce is also great. It's amazing that they offer tuna sashimi at this price... top-notch!
Small bowls contain stewed vegetables, flowers, and other cooked dishes. The stewed meat has a tuna-style gravy. The seasoning is just right... which helps to make the rice taste better. The cooked dishes include eggplants, radishes, and carrots. The cooking method is excellent! Each vegetable retains its original texture... creating a unique flavor experience.
The miso soup is served in a traditional large bowl. The ingredients are simple: green peas and tofu. The rice is also very delicious, with a chewy texture. Since the portion is quite large, I usually order a smaller amount of rice in advance. Also... the tea is also delicious!
Weekday lunch time! There are only a few customers. This is a restaurant that could be even more crowded... It's worth visiting! I'll try to go there at night next time.

2025.05【Revisit】From the north entrance of JR Chuo Line’s Nishi-Hachioji Station, it is a 3-minute walk towards the Kōsho Street direction. This was a restaurant I used to visit quite often when I wanted to enjoy seafood during special events. It was used for lunch on weekdays. I ordered a set meal of sashimi for 1,500 yen. The menu included a mixed selection of sashimi, 3 side dishes in small bowls, a vegetable salad, seasonings, rice, and miso soup.
The sashimi includes hapatsu, red muscle, wasamachi, octopus, and red shrimp. The sliced pieces are about twice the size of usual, which is quite surprising. The red shrimp has an unbeatable chewy texture, and its freshness is outstanding. The shrimp flavor miso attached to the head adds a delightful taste. Despite the high price, the satisfaction level is truly remarkable.
Small bowls contain miso soup with dashi sauce, spring onions, and stewed vegetables. The dashi sauce has a strong seafood flavor… the acidity is just right. The stewed vegetables have a rich flavor, and both sweet potatoes and yams are delicious. The rice is also good. The miso soup is served in large bowls, along with chicory and tofu. This combination is perfect for a full meal. The overall portion is quite large… a satisfying experience! Even with a price tag of 2,000 yen, the quality is definitely worth it.
This restaurant offers both eel and snake, making it an ideal place to enjoy seafood! The deliciousness of the hairy crab I tasted before is still unforgettable.
However, since it’s run by the head chef and his wife alone… it takes a bit longer. Even so… it’s worth going there! A definite repeat order.

From the north entrance of Nishi-Hachioji Station, follow the road on your right along the railway line… it’s just a few minutes’ walk. On the left side, there’s a parking lot, and next to it is the restaurant “Kawan”. It was a place I used to frequent when I wanted to eat fish thoroughly with my family. The menu starts at around 5,000 yen, and the food is simply outstanding. There are grilled fish and sashimi, and depending on the occasion, there’s also whitefish, eel, crab… something different from other restaurants. It seems that Kita-Shiro, who lives in Hachioji, also frequents this place! This is my first visit since a while, but on this Saturday night, I ordered a set menu for 3 people at 3,800 yen per person. The sashimi was so abundant that it could hardly hold all the ingredients: octopus, ikura, sweet shrimp, katsuo, salmon, red meat, soy sauce with various flavors, abalone, hamachi… even tuna was tender. Everything was perfect. I forgot to take photos of the salt-roasted mackerel, but it was so soft that it seemed like river fish. The vegetable stew had just the right texture and flavor. As a fine dining restaurant, the taste is a bit strong, but everything was delicious. Since there were elementary school students, they served fried dishes and pot stouts. The chicken was crispy, and the pot stout was excellent. The tea bowl steamed fish with fish was also delicious, with a sweet flavor from the acorn. For the dessert, there was a large bowl of miso soup.
