This is a restaurant located at the intersection of National Route 19 and Higashi-no-machi.
The Dongno Town intersection is located in Kasumi-ike City, Aichi Prefecture.
If you travel from the direction of Nagoya, pass by the Kasugai City Office, and at the traffic light two carriages away, you will see the East-Nagoya Expressway.
From National Route 19, if you turn left at this Tohno-machi intersection, the atmosphere will change completely.
It's a residential street; small to medium-sized buildings line the streets, and there aren't many roads for cars to pass along.
The streets appear to continue in a quiet manner.
After walking for a while, I saw the signboard of this restaurant on my left hand side.
These calligraphic-style characters may seem difficult to read at first glance, but...
For those who love sushi, the character "寿" is definitely something not to be missed.
On the storefront, there was a signboard with a large photo.
There was a parking lot right in front of that restaurant, but it seems that there is also space to park further away, or next to it.
In other words, the neighbor's parking lot seems to be more spacious and easier to park in.
As soon as you entered the restaurant, you found that the space was much larger than you had expected.
Entering the entrance, you will immediately find a counter seat right in front of you.
At Sabe, the owner was cutting the fish by himself, but there were no customers present.
I was instructed to sit at the counter.
In front of me lies a thick and impressive menu, reminiscent of those found in coffee shops.
The owner who is slicing the fish did not speak to me afterwards.
First, I opened the menu and took a look inside it.
A menu page with photos continued on the spread pages, and when flipping to the last page, there was a lunch menu.
Generally, items like chirashi and yakiniku were usually listed on the menu.
On the lunch menu page, there are options available at a slightly lower price than that.
It was featured as a niぎりランチ and aちらしランチ.
Both are listed as \1,080.
It resembled a plate lunch, and I thought it was a unusual concept for a sushi restaurant.
And both dishes include udon, but it's not clear what the size of each portion is.
At first glance, it might seem like there is a limited amount of food available. However, upon looking at the size of the udon, it seems that there is actually a decent amount of food to go.
Since it was lunchtime, I requested a Chirashi-lunch for 1,080 yen.
Cooking & Taste: 3.6
After a short wait, the plate lunch was served.
On a large, white plate that seemed heavy to hold, there were udon and rice served in ceramic containers.
Both are ordinary dunnburis.
I thought the udon had a substantial amount of content, but
Next, they brought over the bowls as well.
So, let's get started right away.
このうどんは、いわゆる素うどんです。
It's a warm udon dish, with just chives scattered over it.
This udon served with tuna broth is quite delicious in terms of taste. It’s a normal, enjoyable dish.
I don't think it had any distinctive features, such as being sweet or salty.
The rice in the donburi was served plain. Of course, it was vinegar rice.
There were dents and finely chopped seaweed scattered over it, and gari was served on top of the vinegar rice.
The ingredients were served separately.
I tried to take advantage of that opportunity, and it was then that I first noticed its size.
It was a set of ingredients of a size I had never seen before.
In terms of size, or rather, the thickness is quite remarkable.
Using standard ingredients for making a typical hand-rolled dish, the thickness was equivalent to two or three pieces of material.
This size is too large for even a person with a large appetite to consume in one bite.
Of course, it's not impossible to have a bite of the food forcibly, but...
If you want to eat the vinegar rice together, it's impossible to take one bite at a time.
It's said to be satisfying to the taste buds, or rather, it has a good bite.
It wasn't anything like solid or well-structured; it was a delicious dish, but above all, it was large in size.
And on another side of the plate, there was a salad dressed with French sauce...
As a post-meal fruit, a piece of pineapple was included.
It was a lunch with a generous portion of food.
Service: 3.5
Compared to the appearance on the menu photo, the actual product had a much larger volume.
Even just the plate lunch was considered a service.
In addition, a bowl was provided, and in the end, coffee was also included.
The staff member who was responsible for the floor, who seemed like a proper wife, also gave a polite response.
Atmosphere: 3.3
The atmosphere in the restaurant was quite sophisticated, given its age.
It's a restaurant with a spacious impression.
CP 3.5
The amount to be paid was 1,000 yen plus 8% sales tax.
I felt that the experience was more valuable than the monetary cost.
Wines & Drinks: 3.3
A warm tea was served, but
After eating, there was also coffee service available.
The coffee could be either iced or hot.
Overall rating is around 3.6.
Not only does the overall volume impress, but
I was surprised by the size of the ingredients used in this quick lunch.
It's quite rare to have the opportunity to eat raw fish by crunching it between one's teeth.
If you like fish, I believe you will be satisfied with the portion offered.
