The fun of a weekend is to drink alone in the evening. It’s not bad to drink slowly while watching TV at home. But today, I booked a reasonable course at Natsumae’s “Hormone Jiro” restaurant for 3,500 yen, including free drinks. A meal costing over 3,000 yen seems luxurious, but with free drinks included, it’s a different story. I’m determined to get a good deal.
I arrived at the restaurant at 2:14, the scheduled opening time. Huh? There were signs indicating that the restaurant was still in the preparation stage. But surely, it couldn’t be a temporary closure, right? I entered the store with caution.
“あ、どうぞお入りください。”
“Is it open for business?”
“Yes, it's fine.”
“I’m reserving for〇○.”
“Ah, I'm sorry. I didn't check the reservation status.”
Oh, oh.
“Oh, I'm sorry for the inconvenience. You are a guest enjoying a course meal with a drink package of 3,500 yen, aren't you? I will prepare it immediately. Please take a seat at this table.”
Sit at the end of the counter.
“Please enjoy your drinks first.”
“Please provide me with raw beer.”
While drinking raw beer, a metal stove is set up over the charcoal fire, and cabbage kimchi and green beans namul are served. It's a pleasant combination for raw beer.
Next, hormone is served.
“これは二郎ホルモンです”
When I checked the ordered course menu on my smartphone, it seemed that the “Niroh Hormones” was similar to a shimachō. It was quite surprising to see the main hormone item being served right from the start. I kind of expected it to start with something like “tan”.
I place the simachio on a net over the charcoal fire. I watch as it slowly cooks, while stacking my glasses of draft beer. Ah, what a perfect way to spend an afternoon drinking at a restaurant during the weekend.
It's good that you can enjoy different types of organ meats little by little. I really like this restaurant. Although its exterior looks a bit old-fashioned, some people might hesitate to enter because of the atmosphere it creates. However, the staff are very helpful, and the place is comfortable to be in.
The last order for the drink free service was at 90 minutes. By the time I ordered my last drink, my stomach was already full. I finished drinking it and the service came to an end.
