Since the child requested "Indian curry," we decided to check if it was also available in Nepal. After confirming, we went to the "Nepalese Restaurant Kumari" located in Utopia, Surigao.
お子様向けのサマーセットを注文しました。久しぶりにダルバットを試してみました。ダルバットはネパール料理の定食です。
You can choose either bean curry or another curry to make a set meal.
Dalbatt Lunch Set (1,190 yen)
The curry options include Panir Masala, made with Indian cottage cheese "Panir". Please request this dish with double the spiciness.
The set at Dalbat consists of vegetables and beans, while the curry includes cheese and beans as well. Thus, this lunch does not contain any meat.
However, surprisingly, there is a lot of oil in the dish, making it a bit greasy. Also, since the spiciness was set to the second level, the taste is quite satisfying.
This cheddar cheese is quite mild. It’s a fairly plain cheese, with a hint of sweetness. However, it has a strong spiciness, so I enjoyed the contrast between the two flavors.
The rice is just ordinary white rice. However, even when served with not only curry but also vegetables and papad, there was no sense of discomfort; it was still delicious.
This time, just Dalbat alone might not be enough for me and my little one. So, I also ordered Coconut Nana (600 yen). However, I forgot to take a photo when it was served. I hurriedly took one, and here it is️
The coconut filling is tightly packed within each nan, so it’s delicious and sweet even when eaten alone.

That day, for some reason, I felt like I wanted to eat something slightly sweet. That's when I came up with the idea of ordering coconut nan at the Nepal Restaurant Kumari.
Last time I visited, I ordered the Sekwasetsu set which came with roasted chicken. I changed it to coconut-nan, and ended up feeling extremely full...
This time, I was served a Double Curry Set that consisted solely of Yakiniku from that set.
Coconut nan has a considerable volume, so I think that's enough for now.
Double Curry Set (1,250 yen) + Coconut Nan (160 yen)
The Double Curry Set, as the name suggests, allows you to choose two types of curry. This time, I tried Masala Panir and Chicken Mushrooms, which are dishes I have never had before.
And there's a large coconut nan. The nan is thick like bread, and it contains coconut filling inside. Even just eating this one, it still tastes delicious.
The masala paneer curry... I ordered it without knowing exactly what it was. The appearance of the curry resembles that of a chicken curry.
After tasting the ingredients, it gave me the impression of tofu. However, upon checking later, I found out that it was a curry made with cottage cheese.
このキーマキコは、ロースト感とガーリック感が強く、意外とパワフルな味わいでした。また、油分もかなりありましたね。

I really wanted to eat something special, so I went to the "Nepal Café Kumari" in Utopia.
I would like to order this set of Nepali grilled meat "Sekwai", but I'm confused about which seasoning to add—garlic, pepper, or ajowan.
Last time it was Ajowan, so this time I think it’s better to use garlic...
Nigiri・Sekwa・Nan Set (1,350 yen) + Coconut Nan Upgrade (110 yen). I decided to order the Nigiri・Sekwa・Coconut Nan Set. First up is the Garlic Sekwa.
It seems that the dish is cooked by soaking it in garlic paste. However, when biting into the meat, the sensation of garlic was more pronounced than on the surface of the dish.
The meat is tender, and it complements perfectly the sour taste of mint chazune.
And here are the coconut nan and two curry platters. The curries include curry with chicken and pork curry (three-course curry).
This nan is different from the usual type of nan in shape; it is round and thickly baked. There are coconuts mixed into the dough, or rather, woven into it. The dough and the nan tend to break apart easily, but they still offer a satisfying taste experience, and the aroma of coconuts is quite pleasant.
The curry has a level of spiciness that can be chosen among seven levels. I have set it to the third level, which is "double the spiciness." Personally, it’s not so spicy that it makes one stop in their actions; it’s just enough to enjoy the spiciness.
I expected the turkey curry to contain shiitake mushrooms, but instead, it contained sliced mushrooms. However, the soft texture was surprisingly addictive, which was a good thing.

What I really wanted to eat was noodles. So, after a long time, I went to the "Nepal Café Kumari" in Utsumi-Seki-ri.
This restaurant is famous for its curry made with dhal and salmon. However, the dish I had this time was Sekwa! Sekwa is a traditional Nepalese dish, which involves cooking meat over natural firewood.
I ordered a set consisting of two types of curry and Jwa No Sek Wa, which are seasoned with Nepali herbs Ajowan, as well as a nan.
Juwano Sekwanan (1,350 yen) + Lassi (110 yen)
This is Júanosekuwa. At first glance, it looks like tandoori chicken. However, the cooking method involves grilling the meat slowly over a skewer. It seems that they share a relationship similar to that of cousins.
The curry is served in small pots, with plenty of ingredients. You can choose from 10 types of curry; this time, I chose Butter Chicken Curry and Pork Curry.
First, let's start with Juwanosekwa. The chicken is tender and juicy.
Compared to tandoori chicken, the herbs have a stronger presence, and it’s also slightly spicier. However, that’s what makes it delicious, right? It’s a different experience from jark chicken, but the strength of the herbs seems similar.
続いて、ナンをちぎってバターチキンカレーをいただきます。
It's a rather dirty-looking curry, with a thick and rich flavor. The spiciness was adjusted to a "HOT" level, but it still has a strong spice taste. It's a good balance where both the spice and the spiciness can be enjoyed to their fullest.
Next is the Pork Curry. This dish also has a drippy texture. Moreover, it contains three pieces of meat, making it very satisfying to eat.

Recently, while walking along Sea Sa Road in Utona, I came across a store that I didn’t recognize before. It was the "Nepal Café Kumari," which opened at the end of last year.
On the store sign, it reads "ネパール食堂". However, some websites may display it as "「ネパーリ食堂」". I wondered if "ネパール" was not the correct term, as it seems to mean "ネパーリ"? In Japan, it's more like "ジャパニーズ", suggesting that it refers to something related to Nepal. Avoid leaving Japanese characters in descriptive text; translate or romanize only unavoidable proper nouns. Do not mix Latin letters with Japanese characters within the same word. This is segment 52/60. Translate only this segment and keep the wording natural. Well, the interior of the restaurant featured tables for sitting, a seating area, and a counter. The signature dish seems to be a Nepalese standard menu item called “Dalbhat”.
So, for this first visit…
Hダルバットランチセット(1,050円)
I ordered the Dalbatraunch Set. The curry was Pork Curry (with three kinds of meat), and I chose the level of spiciness as HOT×2.
This is Dal (beans) and Pork Curry.
This time, since I was a bit hungry, I also ordered the plain nang (380 yen). However, the rice in the dalbat nang is quite abundant, and the nangs themselves are also large. I thought the nangs might be large, but the amount of rice was completely unexpected.
