The traditional tonkatsu restaurant in Hirai: "Santei".
This restaurant's specialty is "grilled tonkatsu."
However, I didn’t hear many positive reviews about it, so I avoided visiting the restaurant.
However, when you pass by at noon, you will find attractive whiteboard menus.
That name is today’s special meal (1350 yen).
This menu item is not a grilled dish, but a fried Rospack Tako. It comes with 3 servings of fried chicken tartar sauce.
Without hesitation, I entered the restaurant.
The interior has a traditional feel, with counters and tables.
Among these elements, what stands out is the bulletin board inside the restaurant. There are posters of E.YAZAWA’s towels and rock musicians displayed in a cramped space.
By the way, there was a guitar placed next to the whiteboard outside.
After placing the order, you received the fried aubergine items that were still hot.
The tempura tofu has separated from its wrapper.
However, considering the price, both the taste and the portion are absolutely excellent. It feels like being right in the heart of a typical street tandoor chicken restaurant.
The miso soup and pickles are very solid, and that's also a positive impression.
What was not expected, was a pleasant surprise.
It seems that you can enjoy a drink of agemono at this restaurant in the evening.
It seems that they also offer special dining-style live performances.
Next time, I would like to go there for a meal of the long-awaited grilled tonkatsu.
