先日、フレンチビストロでご飯を食べた後、もうちょっと話そうという訳でこちらの居酒屋に行ってみました。Japanese Sake and Banquet: Minato-ya, Part 2 - Yaesu」さん。日本橋駅からは徒歩3分程度です。東京駅からも徒歩5、6分程度なら十分に到着できます。私たちが帰りやすいという理由で、日本橋付近の店を選びました。近くには「Japanese Sake and Yakitori Minato-ya, First Ebi Shioji BranchThere are also other options. The first one seems more suitable for a small eatery, making it easier to use.
To be honest, the reason I chose this restaurant is simply because it remains open even in late hours. As you can see from the Yumello page, it is open until 2 a.m. Well, I don’t really have the intention of staying there until such a late hour.
This is a restaurant specializing in handmade dumplings. They use domestic chicken, and the dough is made with high-quality wheat, water, and salt—all ingredients that meet the standards of the owner. This is the first restaurant in Yaegishi to offer homemade chicken dumplings. The menu includes light and fluffy water dumplings, as well as crispy fried dumplings. However, we decided to go to a French bistro instead, so we couldn’t even try any of the dumplings there. So, it’s more of a casual after-party-like experience. This is the restaurant review. I learned later by looking at the receipt that the service fee per person is 750 yen. That’s quite a high fee, isn’t it? For that amount, they provided a sample of the food, which looked delicious. To be honest, just this alone was enough to make me enjoy the alcohol… But how should I view this? I have to say that it’s quite expensive. What do you think? Leave it to me.
So, we are
Edamame 330 yen
Meishu Crystal 480円
Grilled Monkfish – 480 yen
エイヒレ 580円
I have requested this. All prices are inclusive of taxes. Here, we add an additional 10% as service charge. Truly, these are the perfect appetizers for a yakitori restaurant… Haha! What’s this? An old man’s choice. Sorry, I actually selected all of them myself… Even though I mentioned various items on the yakitori menu, they turned out to be quite delicious. As you can see, there’s edamame, plum crystal, grilled明子, and eel. Each of these items was plenty, making them perfect appetizers. I really liked the grilled明子 and eel. Well, it’s just an old man’s choice, you know… Haha.
The alcoholic drink ordered was mainly Japanese sake.
Silver plate, glass – 1280 yen
Kōsaku – 550 yen
I drank it. My friend seemed to have been drinking Bontenoshima or some kind of oolong tea. The silver bottle was made from sake from Toyama. I really like Japanese sake. It’s a strong type of sake, with a clear taste. The aftertaste is a bit unique—sort of bitter. It’s a sake that I occasionally buy and drink at home. Please give it a try if you’re interested. I haven’t examined the bottle, so I don’t know much about its details. Sakonji is, well, a fruit-flavored sake. It’s affordable and delicious, perfect for the common people. (Laugh) I usually drink it with alcohol.

The atmosphere of the restaurant is quite cozy, with a style reminiscent of a Japanese-style open-plan seating area. You enter the place by removing your shoes. The space isn’t very large, but that makes it feel more like a homey atmosphere. It felt like we were at home, and we really relaxed there. It seems that such restaurants are rare in Tokyo these days. Well, maybe it might be a bit off-putting for young people who are accustomed to regular chain izakayas. There was only one man working the front desk, handling orders and serving alcohol. I couldn’t tell if there were any other people working in the kitchen, but I didn’t know exactly how many there were. The service itself wasn’t bad. The list of Japanese sake available was displayed on a blackboard along the wall. Among the customers, there were several older men and women, along with one young couple. It’s quite unusual to see a young couple visiting here. The payment can be made using cards or electronic money. Since we decided to split the bill in cash at that time, I brought along some cash.
Thank you for your hospitality. Well, it might not seem fancy, but it's comfortable and homely. Since I haven't tried the dumplings, I can't give a full evaluation. But I thought the choices for drinks and snacks were quite good. Feel free to give it a try. Probably, the first visit will be easier (laughs).
