We visited the "Gion Fukushi," a Michelin one-star restaurant that ranks among the top 500 on Yumlog.
The location is on the south side of Gion-machi, about 5 minutes by foot from Gion-joji Station and 8 minutes by foot from Kawaramachi Station. It’s just a few blocks away from Hanami-dori.
The restaurant has 8 counter seats and 2 private rooms.
The building features a bright Kojimay-style architecture, creating a calm atmosphere.
The owner of this restaurant, Mr. Takuji Fukushi, has gained his culinary skills working at the prestigious high-end restaurant "Kaiganjira" in Okoyawara and at a fine dining establishment in Ginza. He spent 17 years as a chef at the Kyoto-style restaurant "Tankuuki Branch Head Office," during which he served as the head chef for 9 of those years. Later, on December 1, 2017, he opened this restaurant. Therefore, we were very excited to visit it.
Well, regarding the customer service, both the master chef and the manager are very gentle and humble people. Therefore, the atmosphere was always cheerful, and we enjoyed ourselves throughout the experience.
The dishes, in terms of both appearance and taste, are definitely satisfactory considering the master's experience. Overall, the food is extremely delicious.
Additionally, the items received on this day are as follows, but I would like to share a few thoughts.
Jelly Sauce of Live Oysters, White Mussels, Nori, Urushi, and Wasaibira
The first dish, served with seasonal fish, shellfish, and vegetables, prepared with a refreshing jelly vinegar sauce.
Higedara and yomogi tofu stew bowl, clams, shiitake mushrooms, flower-shaped radishes, tree buds
The broth is delicious, and the yomogi tofu and clams are truly outstanding.
Kashinama's premium yellowtail and Akashi's tuna
A well-balanced fatness and rich flavor of a tuna from Akamato, with a distinct taste of Akashi.
Homemade Tang Ink Steamed Rice
Here, you can enjoy rice steamed in bite-sized portions of Tangmo.
