I landed at Kōbunji Station for the first time in what seemed like many years. I believe it was the first time since my university days when I was a Central Line user. The station building had changed from El to Seleo, and it had completely transformed into a modern-style station. However, the memories that lingered in my mind were still there—the sutadon restaurant at the south entrance, and the Nagara-no-Taki waterfall. These memories remained intact, which made me feel somewhat relieved.
Aside from that, the reason I came all this way to Kōbunji is because I heard that this restaurant offers authentic teppan-yaki at a relatively affordable price. It took me just a few minutes to walk from the north entrance of the station. I arrived just before 18:00 on the weekend, when the reservation time was set. The main seating is on the counters, with tables further back. But the seats were already full by families and couples, so reservations are definitely necessary.
I booked the course in advance, and what I received this time are as follows.
・前菜盛り合わせ(カプレーゼ、エビとマッシュルームのガーリックバターソース、松阪牛ローストビーフ)
・Salmon and clams soup
・スモークサーモンと柑橘のサラダ
・Matsushita Beef Lean Steak
・松阪牛サーロインステーキ ←추가
・Garlic Rice
・デザート(クレームブリュレ、フルーツ)
The chef hails from the Palais Hotel in Marunouchi. His skills were as expected, and what stood out most was the deliciousness of the Matsusaka beef—a quality that left me awestruck. The red meat steak (the cut used was a lamb) had a perfect balance between the meat's flavor and the appropriate amount of sesame seeds. To make a comparison, I also added a sirloin steak this time. This one had an excellent fatty layer that wasn’t overly heavy, and it melted in the mouth. Both cuts were incredibly delicious, making it hard to choose between them. I think it’s rare for people to order both, but overall, I found the red meat steak to be absolutely satisfying.
I ordered a bottle of Cabernet Sauvignon as wine, and a Sirah as a drink with a glass. The price of the drinks is also reasonable, offering an incredible cost-performance ratio, which is hard to find in the city center. I think this is a store worth visiting even if we have to travel all the way to Kōbontsū just to get here.
This time, we visited this restaurant with our relatives. Most of the other customers were those who came for commemorative days or celebrations. The atmosphere was truly special. We really hope to visit this place again, especially in this nostalgic city of Kōbetsu, and enjoy delicious iron plate grilled dishes there.
So, thank you very much for your hospitality!
