As telework continues, it has become a routine for me to go to a Sichuan restaurant on my working days.
This day, too, at Toranomon...Natural HomeHeading towards the main store... there's another long queue in front of the store!
So, I headed towards the branch store.
“Toori Iryakaya Zentai Yuki” Sann.
I have a face-to-face acquaintance with the female store manager who sells bentos in front of the restaurant. Her name is Tingting.
I greeted them and entered the restaurant.
Lunch menu.
This restaurant offers tender pork steaks, 100% beef hamburgers, chicken sambar dishes, and more.
The Chinese dishes included soy sauce-free tangtang noodles, fried chicken, and fangmengji (yellow-glazed chicken). I ordered all of them.
Here, we found something!
"黄燜鶏"には【HOT】マークが付いています!w(*゜o゜*)w
Previously, it wasn’t spicy. I ate it with chili oil and Chinese prickly ash, but now it seems to have become a dish with a strong taste of spiciness.
Let's try eating something like that!
◆ファンモンジー定食
First, take a bite of the miso soup.
Chinese name: “Huang Yung Chicken”. It is written as “Fang Mengji” or “Fan Mengji”.
It’s placed in a iron pot, and it’s boiling vigorously. However, it’s not iron plate grilled food; it’s a pot-style dish.
A dish cooked with chicken in soy sauce.
A chain restaurant specializing in Huangling Chicken Rice, founded in Jinan, Shandong Province, has seen a rapid expansion across China. The business has now grown to 6,000 stores worldwide.
In Japan, it opened in March 2019 in Osaka, Nihonbashi. Currently, there are five franchise stores.
This restaurant’s "Yellow Roasted Chicken Rice" seems to be characterized by its spicy and intense flavors. However, it is not actually a dish that is inherently spicy.
A stew dish made with chicken, mushrooms, carrots, peppers, onions, potatoes, and other vegetables.
The flavor is based on soy sauce, with a delicious taste enhanced by the broth from mushrooms. It has the flavor of a Chikisai-yaki dish.
It doesn’t really have a Chinese cuisine flavor; rather, it has a taste similar to Japanese cuisine.
There are plenty of potatoes.
Pepper.
The key to the flavor lies in the white mushrooms.
At the bottom of the pot, there remains the liquid from the sauce that has dissolved after being mixed with the chicken.
The chili peppers that were present last time are completely missing.
The dly-ni is available for free refills.
Cold tofu is also included.
The chicken cooked in yellow sauce that I had last time contained chili peppers, making it extremely spicy.
But this time, although it had the HOT mark, it wasn’t at all spicy at all.
On the way out, I said to the cute manager, "It wasn't bad at all!"
Then, the response was: “The yellow-glazed chicken isn’t spicy at all!”
Wow! w(*゜o゜*)w
Well, indeed, the original yellow-glazed chicken isn't spicy at all.
Moreover, it seems that many of the customers who come to this restaurant are people who have difficulty with spicy food. They often complain about the spiciness of the dishes.
Therefore, it seems that the spiciness of the dishes is gradually decreasing.
For those who cannot tolerate spicy food, this is a convenient restaurant for them.
And then, try the Chinese-style "Chunqian Jie" with "Huang Yun Chicken" (Fang Mung Ji).
Thank you for the hospitality.

As the days continue with telework, it has become a routine to go to a Sichuan cuisine restaurant on my days off from work.
This day, too, at Toranomon...Natural HomeHeading towards the main store... there's another long queue in front of the store!
So, I headed towards the branch store.
“Toori Yakoyaya Zentai Yuki”さん。
The cute female manager who was standing in front of the store was someone I knew from face-to-face encounters.
I greeted them and then entered the restaurant.
The long interior of the restaurant has a counter seat on the right side and table seats on the left side.
Tonchan was directed to a table seat nearby.
The cold drinks are served by oneself from the tabletop pot.
The lunch menu has increased.
Previously, the Chinese dishes included fried chicken, oil-lained chicken, yellow-fried chicken, and soy-based noodles without soup.
Additionally, there are beef strips, chicken sambar, tender pork steaks, pork steaks with fried tofu, 100% beef premium hamburgers, and hamburgers with fried tofu.
I really want to order Chinese food here. I've already tried the soy sauce-free tangtang noodles...
Let's choose the oil-fried chicken.
◆ユーリンチー(油淋鶏)定食
First, it's a miso soup, not Chinese soup.
It includes cold tofu as well.
Now, the oil-laden chicken. There is a salad on the side.
A thick, loose-filled fried food is coated with a sauce called "Tarega".
The impression was that there was a lot of long green onions as seasoning, but there are no green onions.
The dressing made from za-zaku ingredients and the sweet vinegar sauce are very delicious.
When you bite into it, the meaty juices from the mango meat will flow out.
The side dishes are so flavorful that they strongly suggest eating white rice as well.
油淋鶏というのは、厚い衣をつけた唐揚げのような形をしており、甘酢のタレが添えられているというイメージです。しかし、これは日本独自の料理なんですね。チキン南蛮に似た料理として広まっているようです。
This restaurant's oil-livered chickens lack most of the seasonings like green onions and ginger. It's a regrettable aspect of this place.
However, the lunch had a generous amount of chicken meat, which provided a sense of satisfaction.
Thank you for your hospitality.

Last week, I posted an article about the establishment of a branch of Sichuan cuisine restaurant "Tianranju" located in Kaminomachi.
This time, I have a dish that I really want to try, so I'm coming back again.
“Toori Yakoyaya Zentai Yuki” san.
This is a Japanese restaurant that specializes in chicken dishes. However, it's not a Japanese restaurant; it's a Chinese restaurant, specifically Sichuan cuisine.
Upon entering the restaurant, the shopkeeper, Ms. Tintin, who was standing at the counter, greeted me with a cheerful "Ah! Welcome!"
Weekly set meal is soy sauce steamed fried chicken.
The manager suggests a change-of-week lunch, saying, "Today, fried chicken is highly recommended!"
You see, today I have a dish that I really want to try.
I want to eat "Yellow Roasted Chicken". Moreover, I want to have the spicy version of Yellow Roasted Chicken.
Can this restaurant serve spicy dishes?
Since it’s a stew dish, the flavor is already established, so we can’t make it spicy, said the manager.
Can I have the food spiced with chili oil by myself? Because...
Yes, that's fine. Please make the order accordingly. The order has been finalized.
The water is served from the on-site pot on the table.
◆Yellow-roasted Chicken Set Meal
During the Obon festival, it was also served with Lardo oil.
It's not a Chinese soup; it's a miso soup.
Instead of almond tofu, we get cold noodle as a side dish.
This is a yellow-glazed chicken.
It’s placed in a iron pot, but it’s not iron plate grilled food; it’s a pot-style dish.
This dish consists of cooked chicken, mushrooms, carrots, peppers, onions, and vegetables such as jagai.
This is a dish with a soy sauce-based flavor that has a gentle and homey taste.
The five-spice powder and other unique Chinese seasonings are not noticeable at all. It feels like a Chinese dish, but not really.
Rather, yes! It has a flavor similar to that of a Chikuzen-yaki made with oyster broth.
Therefore, these are dishes that are easy to eat and familiar to everyone.
Because it has a soy sauce flavor, it goes well with regular rice.
This is a special dish called “Yellow Roasted Chicken Set meal”.
And, there is no bitterness at all.
I wanted to eat spicy yellow-roasted chicken! That was Tonchan's request.
For that whimsical request, the manager prepared some seasonings for us.
Set in the summer festival season, this spicy oil is prepared. At the bottom of the container, there are plenty of chili peppers submerged.
It would be nice if this was also included! He brought over the Sichuan pepper that I really appreciate.
I applied a generous amount of chili oil and Sichuan pepper to the dish.
It has become a taste that is spicy and numbing.
Oh, the yellow-roasted chicken also contains chili peppers. However, it was only used for flavoring; the chili content was not strong.
After finishing eating, there was still red liquid remaining in the pot.
I wonder if it tastes great after being left unattended for a while.
Thus, I ordered the spicy yellow-glazed chicken.
But since it’s an afterthought, it doesn’t quite feel right.
Here, it is best to order the original non-spicy yellow-braised chicken.
Thank you for the hospitality.
Finally, a little about the yellow-glazed chicken.
“黄燜鶏”とは何か。 “燜”という言葉は、とろ火でじっくりと煮込むという意味であり、“黄”という言葉は、黄色っぽい色になるという意味です。つまり、醤油味で黄金色(茶色?)になった煮込み料理のことです。
According to the Chinese Wikipedia, this dish originates from Jining, Shandong Province. It is said that it was developed by the Lu Cai Dian (Shandong cuisine restaurant) "Jiling Yuan" which was established in 1927.https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/%E9%BB%84%E7%84%96%E9%B8%A1
However, considering the content of the dishes, it seems to be a type of home-cooked food. Moreover, it appears that there are variations in the taste across different regions of the country.
This set of yellow-glazed chicken and rice, known as "Yellow Glazed Chicken Rice," is also considered one of China's three major snacks.
A chain restaurant specializing in Huangling Chicken Rice, founded in Jinan, Shandong Province, has seen rapid growth in China. It now has as many as 6,000 stores worldwide.
In Japan, these restaurants opened in Osaka-Nihonbashi in March 2019, and in Takada Bakuro in December of the same year.
The restaurant's "Yellow Roasted Chicken Rice" seems to be characterized by its spicy taste.
But actually, it’s not a spicy dish.

When I checked the restaurant reviews on Eatlog, I saw that there's a Sichuan cuisine restaurant located in Toranomon 1-chome.Natural Home我发现了一家看起来像是该品牌的分店的餐厅开业了。
There are articles about lunch, but there are still no reviews of Sichuan cuisine!
I really need to verify this.
そして、ランチの場所へ向かった。
“Toori Yakoyaya Zentai Yuki” restaurant.
A young girl is serving customers.
From the sign, it seems to be an ordinary izakaya that specializes in roasted chicken and chicken dishes.
In that case, it doesn't seem like a restaurant serving Sichuan cuisine.
But the lunch menu posted in front of the restaurant is for Chinese cuisine.
Moreover, there's a version of the dish called "changanme without soup," which is definitely a authentic Sichuan cuisine!
I checked with the young girl who was doing the recruitment work.
This is a branch of a natural restaurant located over there, right?
Yes, that's correct. I am the manager of the restaurant.
Eh? Is the store manager, maybe, Tintin-san?
Yes! I opened a restaurant in Nihonbashi, and I was there for a while. But now that this new restaurant has been opened, I am the manager here.
Ah, so that's how it was! When I thought we hadn't seen each other for a while, I realized I had been in Nihonbashi!
Having returned to Toranomon, please take care of it.
Since I've confirmed that it's a branch of the "Natural Residence," let's enter the store.
But it's nice that I was able to meet her again.
The interior of the restaurant has an counter on the right side, with 8 seats.
On the left side, there are tables arranged in rows.
The water is served from the pot on the table.
The lunch menu includes: fried chicken set meal, oil-fried chicken set meal, marinated chicken with peanut stir-fry set meal, yellow-glazed chicken set meal, soy sauce-based dhanima noodles set meal, and weekly special set meal. The prices are the same as those at the main store.
This weekly special is a braised beef tendon dish in Chinese-style flavor.
【HOT】このレストランのメニューには、「マーラー鶏肉ピーナツ炒め」と「汁なし担々麺」の2種類のみが提供されています。
I asked the lady on the floor, "Can you make the oil-limb chicken spicy?" She replied, "Yes, if you use lardo."
Well, it’s not a Marler restaurant after all. It seems that their methods differ significantly from those of our main store.
So, let's talk about those items marked with the 【HOT】 symbol...
Please order Tangdan noodles! Make them extra spicy.
“매우 매운 편이네요.”
No, make it the strongest version!
And, I ordered it, but it seems that the message wasn’t conveyed properly.
◆ No-soup tangy noodles set meal
Since it's a set meal, rice and miso soup are included.
The soup is not a Chinese-style soup, but a miso soup.
Cold tofu is also included.
The no-soup dangali noodles are served in a black ramen bowl.
On top of the noodles are minazushi, meat broth, and nuts.
The utensils are different, but they have the same design as those at our main store.
And beneath the noodles, there lies a spicy sauce made from sesame oil, lardo, and Chinese pepper.
First, it's a ritual.
The ingredients are simply mixed together in a messy manner.
Once it has been thoroughly mixed together, let's take our first bite.
The noodles are firm and thick. It’s the same as those at our main restaurant.
The spiciness is at a spicy level. This means it's quite spicy.
There is also a strong flavor of Sichuan peppercorn, but it is quite mild.
Because of adding lardo oil to the spicy sauce, the spiciness overpowered the balance between spice and numbing effect.
This creamy thick noodle dish with no sauce of spicy sauce is, indeed, delicious.
However, the level of spiciness and the intensity of the taste are not enough for those who truly enjoy spicy food.
After eating almost all of the noodles, there are still ingredients and sauce left.
Here comes the second round.
White rice placed in a dly.
It's too much for everything, so just half of it as rice.
Mix the remaining spicy sauce with the ingredients.
Spicy rice is ready!
This is truly delicious. (*^^*)
On the way back, I spoke with the manager of the restaurant.
Since we don't have Sichuan chili peppers or seasonings from our main restaurant, we can only adjust the spiciness by adding a little Lao oil.
While it may not be enough for those who enjoy extremely spicy dishes, it is sufficient for ordinary people to enjoy delicious Sichuan chicken dishes and boneless tanghali noodles with a level of spiciness that satisfies their taste buds.
Actually, when I looked at the menu this time, I skipped the "Yellow Roasted Chicken".
This dish is a spicy chicken pot roast from Sichuan. Moreover, it isn’t listed on the main restaurant’s lunch menu.
【HOT】このメニューには「HOT」のマークが付いていませんが、次回また食べてみたい料理です。
Thank you for the hospitality.
