I looked at the menu and saw that when it said "Tempeh Soba," it actually meant soba with tempeh. "Country Soba" is a limited-time offer for 10 servings only. Since I went there early, there was still some of the "Country Soba" left. So, I ordered the tempeh set as a single item, and also the "Country Soba."
Then, the owner noticed that I had come alone. He said, “The tempura set is served in pairs, so it’s not possible to have it for one person alone. So, I’ll serve the tempura with soba, and the soba will be seasoned with salt.”
So kind! Just this alone has greatly increased my level of satisfaction.
天ぷらにはエビ2本、かぼちゃ、レンコン、賀茂ナス、金時芋が添えられています。この金時芋は輪切りではなく、細かく切られた金時芋と根菜を使ったかき揚げです。とても美味しかったです。
The soba is firm and has a distinct taste. Rather than being typical of rural soba, it leans towards the soba style. However, both types are delicious. Even when eaten with salt, it remains satisfying and tasty.
The fried foods were also served with salt and yuzu soy sauce. The yuzu soy sauce was really delicious.
The soba soup is refreshing and easy to drink. They served it hot right when I finished eating. Since I ate slowly, I believe they carefully timed the serving to match my eating pace.
Another thing that caught my attention is that there are three people working in the hall, and three people also work inside. That's a sufficient number of staff members. But it seems like they are students doing part-time jobs. The pace of work was so slow that I felt sympathy for the owner. It seemed like a tough situation. Maybe they switch roles from day to day or time to time, but this really made it difficult. In fact, I even thought about working as a part-time employee (just to eat soba noodles instead of having a full-time job).
Next time, I would like to enjoy various dishes while drinking alcohol. I'm very interested in octopus stew and soba rice.
North Mountain Street was a beautiful sight, with street trees also turning colors.
