Renovated from a former bank building that has a history of 100 years, this boutique hotel K5 in Kōmachi still stands today.
Among them is the creative izakaya “MARUYAMA,” which opened this spring.

As a restaurant that features historical buildings, we aim to be recognized as "Japanese bars." We emphasize the natural blessings of clear 'water,' local sake, and the energetic spirit that comes with Japanese taverns. We hope to share these elements of Japanese food culture with the world.
The location is about 5 minutes’ walk from Maebashi-machi Station on the East-West Line.
On the first floor of Hotel K5, located right behind the Tokyo Stock Exchange, the entrance is a majestic door on the left side of the building.
As you step inside, you are greeted by a warm curtain that gives a British-style atmosphere to the space.
Beyond that lies a secluded space, created with organic materials that harmonize with the inorganic surroundings, creating a stylish and comfortable atmosphere.
In front of the spacious open kitchen, there are counters and floors with long tables, round tables, and counters facing the windows.
A gentle jazz music fills the bustling Japanese Bridge Tokuda, providing a moment of tranquility on this busy weekday.
The regular lunch menu features two types of set meals where o-musubi are the main item.

The main onigiri is tightly wrapped in seaweed, creating a distinctive shape, while the topping of kelp is visible at the top.
A generous amount of puréed soup and egg custard, served in small bowls; alongside macaroni.
The main dish, fried chicken rolls, comes with two large, crispy pieces, creating a visually appealing meal set.
Today, I chose one of the rice boxes available. It's a salt rice box.
The seaweed used here is different; it's the most carefully picked seaweed with our unique focus.
From the moment of taking a bite, one can feel the rich flavor that fills the mouth. The glossy texture of the rice is perfectly matched with a salty taste that brings a pleasant sensation to the palate. The seaweed adds an extra layer of umami, making the combination even more delicious. The balance between the saltiness and the umami of the rice is truly excellent.
This is a chicken meatloaf that was ordered immediately, for some reason.
When I put that which I claimed to be my face into my mouth, the aroma is simply outstanding!!
A slight hint of oil can be felt in the flavor of the soboro, and as if following that taste, the overflowing yolks create an exquisite umami.
As for the ingredients of the onigiri, it offers a flavor that is unique and primarily characterized by aroma.
The main dishes are large two fried items.
When the thick, clumpy dough is broken apart, a salty aroma resonates through it—a truly moist and juicy flavor. Along with the rich taste enhanced by the leavening agents, the appeal of this dish is simply overwhelming!
At LANTERNE, the famous chicken fried rice is one of the standard dishes available.
What we must not forget is the stew of shrimp.
A soup that brings a sense of ginger, with two soft and creamy purées. The moment it enters your mouth, it melts away, while the direct, rich flavor of salmon intensifies.
I enjoyed a dedicated lunch that not only provided a satisfying meal, but also seemed to match the price.
As evidenced by the sake bottles lined up at the counter, one can enjoy a wide variety of alcoholic beverages even during lunchtime. Sakes gathered from various parts of Kyushu, original sake cocktails, seasonal Japanese sake, as well as craft liquors like gin and plum wine are available.
