"Yakisoba"というと、一般的にはソース入りの焼きそばを思い浮かべるかもしれませんが、
Chinese restaurants or town Chinese eateries often serve dishes like yakisoba, katsuyaki soba, or Shanghai-style soba. The ingredients vary from place to place, and you might wonder, "What kind of soba is this restaurant's signature dish?" Don't you think?
At the Chinese restaurant "Hou Li Shanghai" located on Kagurazaka, you can enjoy a proper Shanghai-style soba.
It’s not a street-side restaurant; the interior is located on the second to third floors. On the second floor, there’s a kitchen, so customers are usually directed to the seats on the third floor.
Since the chef is Chinese, you can enjoy authentic Chinese cuisine.
Lunch time prices range from 1,000 yen to around that level.
This time, I ordered Shanghai-yaki soba and yakisoba for lunch (for around 1500 yen).
Shanghai Yakisoba
It has been served!
The ingredients included pork, green beans, and mushrooms. They were stir-fried with "old soy sauce".
Shanghai yakisoba is a dish where noodles are "fried" using Chinese sweet soy sauce, which is commonly referred to as "lao su".
Although there are no fixed ingredients, it is common for many restaurants to serve vegetables such as green onions and spinach stir-fried together.
“とろみのある餡を乗せたもの”という伝承もありますが、実際にはそれとは異なります。
When you want to enjoy a authentic Shanghai yakisoba, this is the recommended restaurant!

The restaurant has moved to Kagrasakan, and its name is "Hōryō Shanghai".
Previously, there was a restaurant in the area of Kōkei Kagurazaka, which served the same dishes under a different name.
During the season of Shanghai crabs, I really wanted to go there once. But since there are also Shanghai crab dishes available for lunch, I decided to go right away♪
"Sushi Rō"の2階と3階が店舗となっています。店内は非常に清潔です。
On the third floor, there are also private rooms that seem suitable for meetings.
There were three options for the Shanghai crab menu during lunch. Among them...
Did we wait about 15 minutes? The first person who came was a person with noodles...
Umm...
The visuals are nice, but the yellow color (the color of miso) seems a bit lacking...
Perhaps the "flavor" is more prominent than the soy sauce itself.
I understand that it contains crab meat and miso. On top of it, there are white radishes and black pepper.
First, let's taste the filling alone.
Umm... it's not comparable to the dumplings I received in Hong Kong.
The noodles were made of medium-thick whole wheat flour. They were crunchy.
I ate it while discussing the ingredients, but indeed, the taste was more towards salt. Also, I think the flavor of pepper was quite strong.
The soup that came with it was also a thick, creamy type of soup.
And... finally, the shrimp steamed dumplings were served.
The shrimp had a very minimal prissiness. It felt like edamame paste.
The table comes with a set of 3 seasonings.
I ordered Shanghai crab noodles, so I was asked to bring black vinegar separately.
Lunch menu also includes a set of Beijing ducks!
If I can get this for +500 yen for today's lunch, maybe this is the better choice next time.
