This day, my daughters were planning to celebrate my retirement with their own company, so I visited this restaurant.
Actually, the owner of this sushi restaurant, back in the time when my daughters were in kindergarten (about 25 years ago), ran a sushi shop near Takatsuki Station. We often went there with our family. After the shop moved to the Metropolitan University campus, even though we all said “I want to go there”, we never actually got the chance to visit. This time, my daughters managed to create such an opportunity for us.
Sit down at the counter and greet the owner for the first time in a long while. My daughters, who were kindergarten children at that time, are now over 30 years old, but they still remember me. When my daughters were in kindergarten, we would sit at the counter and directly order from the owner, saying, "One tuna platter, please!" Since I used to fish and had fish close to my heart, I remember their answers when I asked them what kinds of fish they liked. They replied with things like "liver of grayling," "sideboards of herring," and "salt-baked black mullet." It's hard to believe that they were just kindergarten children back then.
On that day, there was one less chef at the restaurant, and the owner seemed quite busy. However, when the place had calmed down, I was able to have a conversation with them about various matters. In the end, we even took a commemorative photo together, including the owner as well.
The cuisine and sushi are, of course, outstanding. The dish of lobster topped with seaweed from my time in Takatsuki was a truly memorable experience. Thank you very much for celebrating me at this restaurant. And thank you to the owner for the delicious sushi.
Thank you for your hospitality.
