This October, the first day of the three consecutive holidays, was unfortunately rainy. Both the trains and the streets were extremely crowded. The holiday period due to the National Day Festival should have ended by now, but inbound travelers are still present.
For lunch, to avoid crowds, we chose a secluded spot in Shibuya. We went to this izakaya located near the dining hall on the second floor. It's a small chain restaurant owned by the Kashwa group in Chida-machi. The main features of this place are "toritengai" (a type of dish) and oden.
Since it was already past 14:00 for lunch, there were no customers in the restaurant, which had about 40 seats. We were directed to a table and ordered our meals via tablet. I chose the “Kashiu Ten-Den-Meal” priced at 1000 yen (including tax), while Tsure chose the “Momo Ten-Den-Meal” priced at 1100 yen (same incl. tax).
After waiting for 7 to 8 minutes, both types of set meals arrived. Apart from the main toritama dish, the menu included egg kushiyaki, radish salad, rice, and hot water.
Kashia Ten has a soy sauce-based seasoning, but you can also choose to add ingredients like kami-oryashi, salt, or wasaubeo if you prefer. Moro Ten is said to have a sweet vinegar dressing applied to it.
The freshly fried kashu dish is extremely thin in its coating, giving it a crispy texture. The sliced breast meat is soft and has a delicious sauce that penetrates deeply into the meat. It’s a bit difficult to separate the coating from the meat inside, but overall, the dish was delicious.
I exchanged each item individually, and the beef dishes were quite good. The price was also reasonable, making it a satisfied lunch experience.
This commercial facility features various interesting restaurants, including a famous yakitori restaurant and a Chinese restaurant specializing in mapo tofu. On weekdays, it seems to be crowded with office workers, but I hope to use it again as a solution to avoid lunch crowds on weekends.
