A first visit to "Umauma", quietly located in the alleys of Mitaka.
The sign reading "ウマウマ" marks the entrance. When you open the door, a fragrant aroma of iron plates fills the air, giving the impression that this is a place still full of freshness.
The much-anticipated monjya was prepared by the staff in a quick and delicious manner—that's simply outstanding!!
First, the famous Ka-pun-doru-mon-jya (curry-flavored with cheese topping).
“カップヌードル？”と驚きましたが、鉄板で焼くとカレーの香りが立ち、チーズのまろやかさと合わさって、予想以上にまとまりのある味になりました。見た目もユニークで、食べる前からワクワクしました。
This classic miso cheese mandu is perfect, with the sharp saltiness of miso, the elasticity of tofu, and the creamy texture of cheese. The aroma of the toasted crumbs added at the end is simply delicious. I ate it with a friend, saying, "This is really tasty."
Among the one-piece dishes, the grilled yukke made from domestic beef was a huge hit.
Right in front of me, the staff grilled it, and the flames rose up like "fire"! The fragrant aroma and the sweetness of the meat spread everywhere, and I couldn't help but drink more beer.
Other dishes were also delicious.
Delicious gratin cooked over a hot grill—the surface is crispy, while the inside is creamy. It’s the perfect dish to complement other iron-plated dishes.
The "Meitoku Dashi Maki Egg" has a soft and delicious taste. The "Tonpei Yaki" features a fragrant sauce paired perfectly with mayonnaise, making it an excellent choice as a side dish.
Garlic Shrimp also has shrimp that are crispy and delicious!
The drinks were raw beer and white-state high-ball. They were refreshing options that complemented the strong ironplate dishes, with a well-balanced taste.
There are seats where smoking is allowed, so I stayed there. Unfortunately, the atmosphere was unpleasant and the smell was strong, so I had to leave.
However, overall, it’s a casual setting that doesn’t try to impress, and the satisfaction with the food is high. It’s perfect for days when you want to enjoy both typical dishes and something different.
It was a comfortable place that was easy to use for friends and dates alike.
